MFSLive - Tivo S3 eSATA Guide

No more Kickstart 62?

With software update 9.2, Kickstart 62 is disabled.
But wait, it's now easier to add an eSATA drive to Tivo S3. Power down your Tivo S3, and just plug in an eSATA drive. Power up eSATA first, then S3, wait for an eSATA detection message then follow the guide.
I've tested this on WD SATA drive connected directly to eSATA port using eSATA to SATA cable. Also tested on Antec MX-1 and Hitachi 1TB drive.

As with Kickstart 62, this method will not add an eSATA to already expanded internal drive. It will appear to add the drive but you will not get "Drive Activated screen" (Picture 6) and reported hours will not increase. If you want to add an eSATA drive, you will have to use WinMFS or Mfslive Linux Boot cd.
