Adding a 2nd Drive

Before you do this, you should make a truncated backup of your TiVo drive.

Using mfsadd (Preferred way to add a 2nd drive)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick and easy way but "A" drive is required.

Series 1 and 2:
This section of the guide assumes that your cdrom is on primary slave(hdb), your copy of the original drive is on secondary master(hdc), new "B" drive is on secondary slave(hdd). Refer to Computer Setup guide for more details on how to setup drives.

mfsadd -x -r 4 /dev/hdc /dev/hdd

Series 3 (not Tivo HD):

Method 1: (Works only if internal drive is original capacity)
This method is also know as Kickstart 62.

Method 2: (You will need MFSlive cd v1.2 or higher)
This section of the guide assumes that your cdrom is on primary slave(hdb), your inernal drive is the first SATA port (/dev/sda), new eSATA drive is the second SATA port (/dev/sdb). Refer to Computer Setup guide for more details on how to setup drives.

mfsadd -ex -r 4 /dev/sda /dev/sdb

Series 3 TivoHD (TCD652160):

Method 1: No easy Plug and Play method as of yet.

Method 2: (You will need MFSlive cd v1.3a or higher)
This section of the guide assumes that your cdrom is on primary slave(hdb), your inernal drive is the first SATA port (/dev/sda), new eSATA drive is the second SATA port (/dev/sdb). Refer to Computer Setup guide for more details on how to setup drives.

mfsadd -x -r 4 /dev/sda /dev/sdb

With MFSLive Linux Boot CD 1.3 or higher, -r 4 is optional as the bug is found and fixed. Read all about r value.

Using blesstivo (v2)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick and easy way w/o the original hard drive.
New version 2 has SATA support so you can use USB drives. This section of the guide assumes that your cdrom is on primary slave(hdb), new "B" drive is on secondary slave(hdd). Refer to Computer Setup guide for more details on how to setup drives.

blesstivo /dev/hdd

Maximum drive size you can use with blesstivo is 500GB.
It only works for Series 1 and 2.

Warning! Look at the reported size of the blessed drive. If it's far smaller than your actual drive size, don't install in your TiVo. If you do, you will need refreshed image on your original TiVo drive.
